Back like I never left……

Okay, not really, but the moral of the story is: I’m back. To finish what I started. Because that’s how stars do.

I’m joking please. I’m not joking about finishing up what I started though, because a bump in the road does not necessarily mean a block on the road.

Let’s get to the business of the day, shall we?

Let me first put forth a disclaimer. I use the word “crush” in a non-romantic way many times. It could mean a cultivated admiration of someone based on qualities I find inspirational. Hence it would be quite expedient to try to keep our minds in this sphere for most of the duration of the reading of this piece.

I’ve been a fashion enthusiast for the longest time. I used to look forward to those Thisday Style glossy mini-magazines every Sunday when I was in secondary school. I’m one of those people who can watch a runway show on TV. I’ve watched many. So I’m going to talk about my fashion crushes.

You see Temi Otedola/ JTO fashion like this? You’ll just be on her IG and very conciously be wondering to yourself, “how is someone this fly?” Before anyone jumps up and shouts “Money! ” in my ear, yes I know she’s from money. I have seen rich people who dress in horrendous ways, so it’s not just about money. It’s about style, and Temi’s got style. She marries pieces that I otherwise never considered a future together for, and comes up with a clean and refreshing look each time. I like people like that; those who don’t spend all their time and talent chasing trends but actually steadily groom their personal style. When you master your style and understand what works for you, every season is your season.

Halima Aden is a beauty, and her style is even more amazing. She’s a hijabi-wearing model, and damn, the way she works that scarf! Her style gives off that “I’m cool with a fun twist” vibe, and I’m so here for it.

Denola Grey and Justine Skye have also gotten my interest lately, for different reasons. For Denola, he wears suits. Suits don’t wear him, he wears suits. Who looks good in a burnt orange suit please? Plus, the man is so photogenic, it’s ridiculous.

Justine Skye popped up on my IG feed years ago with her purple hair, and I was really inspired to get purple braids since she’s close to my skin tone and it looked great on her. Alas, that dream was never materialised, but I still like some of her looks. I have many more style inspirations but I think I’ll wrap it up here, because that’s all I can remember after eating a rushed lunch before going back to work, and also because I don’t want to bore you all.

Then, there’s Michael B. Jordan. Yeah, so remember when I said something about keeping your minds out of something romantic-adjacent for most of this post? Well, Most Of This Post ended at the last paragraph. That’s all I shall say about that.
